Support
Dear Reader,
I am excited to introduce you to the Brotherhood of Bald People Worldwide Charitable Donations Program. This program was designed to support children suffering medical hair loss and their families. The Brotherhood donates t-shirts to these youth and their families, and has begun creating designs specifically for the children.
The first donation of t-shirts for children and their dads (we were told that dads often shave their heads when their children lose hair) was made to Minneapolis Children's Hospital in June 2007. At the time of delivery, we were greeted by a staff member from the Child Life Services Department who works directly with the children. She instantly felt that the children would be excited about the t-shirts and shortly after our visit, she sent a "thank you" to the Brotherhood. Here's a portion of the note we received:
"Thanks so much for connecting with us and all the work and resources you and your partner have done to get t-shirts for our patients and families. A lot of the teens and dads really liked that they were black t-shirts, and the range of sizes.... We may need more in a month or two. Again thanks for your efforts and care for our patients."
After the great response, we immediately realized it was important to begin work on a t-shirt design for young bald girls. Knowing that every young girl wants to be a princess, a hairless princess - Princess Jewel, was conceived. The final artwork for the princess was "unveiled" on the Brotherhood website and shortly thereafter we received another message from our connection at Children's Hospital. In this message, she thanked us specifically for thinking about young girls who suffer medical hair loss:
"In Minnesota, I think there is such an incredible amount of support and awareness of childhood cancer… I really like that you are addressing girls not having hair and I like the drawing (Princess Jewel). Thanks so much she is beautiful and I think the parents will appreciate her. Thanks for all your follow-up, I really appreciate that you care about the families."
Due to the instantaneous success of the program, the Brotherhood plans to continue expanding its charitable donations program and feels it can best achieve the envisioned outcome by partnering with other organizations. Our long term goals include the donation of other items such as duffel bags, bracelets, sweatshirts and so on.
We are always looking for organizations interested in working with us. All our partners:
- Are featured on our "partners" page on the Brotherhood website (coming soon) .A brief informational paragraph and company logo can be placed here.
- Have the option to place their logo on any items that are donated.
- Can participate in any of our advertising campaigns.
- Can advertise and be featured at any of our special events.
If you would like more information, please send an e-mail to: info@brotherhoodofbaldpeople.com. Thank you for your interest and support for this program. We're enjoying this opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these children and their families.
Sincerely,
Julie L. Olson
