Review: HeadSlick

HeadSlick is formulated to give the best shave possible. Special lubricants allow blades to glide effortlessly along the skin. HeadSlick is water soluble so blades rinse easily. And because HeadSlick is mentholated, the skin feels cool and refreshed after shaving.

I was the one oddball and did not receive headslick, but received headshed instead. I am so glad I did.
What a great product.
This product is created to operate as a head/face scrub. The smell is almost nonexistent, which is fine. It has a very grainy texture, but not like gravel. It feels a little gritty against your skin, but not in a bad way. Much more in a "I am removing dead skin kinda way." It is course enough to use on your head, but gentle enough to use on your face. I have done this repeatedly for a few weeks right before I shave. My skin feels great, does not dry out my skin, but certain does what it says, without clogging the pores.
In terms of razor burn or moisturising; not sure it does either particularly well, but does not add to razor burn; and does not dry your skin. A little of this goes a LONG way, so for 9 bucks retail it is a great value. Since I have started using the headblade brand I have been pleasantly surprised by each product I have used; HeadShed is no exception.

I have to admit, even though I'm a dedicated Headblade razor fanatic, when I tried the HeadSlick mentholated cream 2 years ago, I thought it was just okay. Well, some things sure have changed!!
I found that HeadSlick gave me a much better lather this time around. A pea-sized dollop in my trusty badger brush, and I was good for both the head and face. Just a little water on the brush provided enough lather for a second pass on my head as well.
Performance seems much better this time around too. As with all tests, I began with fresh blades in the HeadBlade Sport (Personna triple) and the Merkur slant bar (Wilkinson). The menthol really feels good on the skin. You don't notice it at first, but just like a good hot sauce sneaks up on you, you'll feel a nice cooling effect in a couple minutes. With both razors, shaving was effortless. The blade glides over the skin. Cleanup is a breeze, as HeadSlick is water soluble. A quick blast of warm water, and that's it...ready for next time.
Another area where I think the product has improved from my first experience is smell. Unlike products that have a eucalyptus smell, HeadSlick is a nice, minty menthol scent. In fact, my 11-year-old son walked up behind me after a recent shave, stopped...and sniffed my head! "Gee Dad, your head is minty fresh!". Yes it is!
HeadSlick is an excellent value, considering how little you need to really build up a good lather. I highly recommend using a brush. It's good for prepping the hair, and it really fluffs the HeadSlick up nicely. By comparison, my favorite shave cream (until now) has been CO Bigelow. It comes in a tube, about the size of a travel/sample toothpaste tube. It's $5. HeadSlick comes in an 8 ounce bottle for $8.97 (on their website). I know I'm going to get way more shaves out of that bottle!
To tie it all up in a nice little package, this is my new favorite shave cream! Smells good, peforms extremely well, is a great value, and leaves my head and face feeling great. Ladies and gents, I give you my first perfect score!

Good product that gives a good shave. The greatest strength is the refreshed, energized feeling of the skin after the shave. The blade feels like it is gliding over the skin but it is cutting close. The biggest area off opportunity is the scent. There is a very subtle, almost sterile smell at first followed by a slight menthol scent. While not an unpleasant aroma, it is not what I would associate with a masculine product.

I have tried a lot of different shaving creams, lotions, and soaps. Some moisturize some don't. Of course they all have different application instructions too. With Headblade I found that I can squeeze a little bit into my hand (smaller than a dime) and it will cover the entire head. If you don't think you have enough, then just add a little water. It is great. One amount, one application, and a little water. Just that simple. This shaving lotion has a nice fregrance and goes on very smooth. I have not experienced any razor burn. My Headblade razor glide on my head and the shaving lotion keeps my head moisturized enough to do touchups if I need to. It is a great value because you use just a small amount. By far one of the best products that I have ever tested!

I was really excited to try out this product. I have heard a lot of great things about this brand and really wanted to give it a try. I have tried their razor and matte lotion in the past. I used a new mach 3 blade with this test.
I loved the smell of the menthol and the cooling sensation it gave me across the scalp during the shaving experience. I like that just a little dab will do such a great job and I just needed a little water to "rejuvenate" the lotion to finish my shave.

I shaved my head for the first time using Headslick and a Gillette sensor razor. I was not disappointed. A small pea size amount is all it took to get a nice creamy lather. Just by adding some warm water while shaving will re-activate so there is no need to apply more. They created the perfect shaving lubricant. It lathered quickly and was very slick which made the razor glide effortlessly over my head. I was done in about 10 minutes (not bad for my first time). Headslick left my head smooth and moisturized and without razor burn. Thanks to Headslick I will be shaving my head more frequently.
I also shaved my face for the first time with a razor (I always used an electric). Headslick made it effortless. A small amount applied to my face and within seconds a nice slick and creamy lather. The razor moved with ease and after 3 minutes I was done. I love how smooth my face was after shaving and no razor burn. Seeing as it was the first time with a razor and how great it worked. I had no idea what I was missing. I will be using Headslick and the razor more frequently for face shaving.
Headslick will now be a permanent part of my head and face shaving. Hmm, Now to get a Headblade razor.

This is a great product from Headblade as usual. The menthol leaves my dome feeling great & refreshed. It gives a great close shave with my headblade and my fusion. I would recommend this to any and all who ask.

HeadSlick is an awesome product. I've used shaving creams and gels previously, and I couldn't see how a simple cream substance could deliver a quality shave. Well I'm here to tell you that HeadSlick delivers!
I discovered immediately that you only need a small quanitity of this stuff as I used way too much of it on my initial shave. This makes it an economical product as it will last a long, long time.
Now I squeeze a very small amount of it in my hand, and then spread the product all over my head. It leaves a surprisingly thick, milky layer that is plainly visible. This helps you to know that you have applied the product sufficiently and uniformly, and it also helps you to visibly gauge your progress as you shave.
I couldn't believe how "slick" this stuff really is! It's name is richly deserved as I haven't had even a hint of a nick or cut after using the product for three full weeks now. And this helps you to get the closest possible shave imaginable.
HeadSlick has a pleasant tingly/minty feel, but it is not heavily scented like so many products I've used before. Your razor will rinse out effortlessly as this stuff is water soluable. And once your shave is complete, it is equally easy to rinse off your scalp.
Thanks to Julie, I received my first bottle of HeadSlick as a promotional partnership between Brotherhood of Bald People and the HeadBlade Co. Thank you so very much Julie! When this bottle gets empty, I'll be buying another one as I'm now convinced that this is the best shaving lubricant I've ever used.

HeadSlick is simply a wonderful product.
For best results, add a few drops of water to the HeadSlick when applying it to your wet face/head. You will instantly see how insanely slippery it becomes, and why it does such a good job. If it dries out on you, just splash a few drops of water on it and continue - the water will bring it back to full slipperiness just like that.
I enjoy the smell, because it is clean and stimulating. HeadSlick's slickness goes a long way toward getting a "baby butt smooth" shave. I have used HeadSlick with cartridge, double edge safety razors, and straight razors with admirable results. This is my go-to shaving product, and in my opinion it is a must for all serious shavers.
