Review: St. Charles Shaving Soap

It lathers quickly, lubricates your skin, doesn’t dry out, rinses cleanly, has a rich fragrance and allows your razor to glide smoothly and effortlessly for a clean shave.

One of the reasons I stopped using shave soap years ago was the inability to get a decent lather with what was available on the retail market. This is by far the best lathering soap I have used. The "New Spice" smell is clean and masculine. I have noticed a significant decrease in shaving bumps and irritation using Saint Charles Shave soap and cream. My wife said tonight that she has noticed my skin tone is much more even. The soap is lasting a long time too, so $5 is more than a fair price. I highly recommend this soap!

I was dubious about the soap as previous experience with another brand left me unimpressed due to lack of lather. St Charles shaving soap was much better and changed my opinion. Plenty of lather and a great smell. Still plenty of lather on brush for a second shaving pass. it gave me a smooth shave and my skin felt fairly moisturised. I had no shaving mug so found an old china mug in kitchen and placed soap inside. After 20 seconds in the microwave the soap had formed into a perfect shape in bottom of mug for whipping up lather. As I don't know the price I have left a medium rating for value. I would recommend and use this product again.

I have been using St. Charles Shave New Spice for about 10 shaves. The brush used for all shaves is a C&E Best Badger:
- Smell: Wonderful. I enjoy this scent, it's unlike any of the other 6 shaving soaps I have. A very clean, spice-musk scent.
- Latherability: The New Spice lathers quickly. I lather in a scuttle and apply lather for about 5 passes on my face, and 2 on my head. The lather is very clean, almost white.
- Improved Skin Tone: Again, a nice feature. No razor burn using this soap.
- Price: Excellent. I am used to paying 8 bucks for a 3.5 ounce. This is a deal at $5 for 3.0 ounces.
- Moisturizing: Very good. I also use extra moisturizer on my face and scalp after my shave.
- Overall: I give it a 9. It stands up very well to everything I've used in the past year. Highly recommended product from me.

A pretty good soap that made tons of lather. It didn't dry out my skin the way other soaps I've tried and the price is right! The only thing I didn't like about "New Spice" shaving soap was the smell. I'm more of a menthol or no scent at all sort of guy but other than that, this soap works great!

The new spice soap is a very classy product. I get compliments on my shave when I use it and I really like the smell.
It foams up nicely and always leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.
I'm a definite St. Charles Shave fan love the products but i'm not really big into soaps right now.

I really like this product. It lathers up great and goes on very nice. When you normally think of soap you would think that it would dry fairly quick. Not the St. Charles Soap. It stays nice and moist so you can enjoy the shave without rushing. Even after a shave you feel clean and refreshed. I highly recommend.

A solid product. Performs every bit as well as Colonel Conk's (and I'm a Colonel Conk fan).
