We got porn spammed pretty hard this morning around 0645 CDT. I have cleaned it all up and forwarded the pertinent info to Julie for banning the user.
On behalf of the Mod Squad, my apologies for any inconvenience that this situation may have caused.
In the future, if you see that the forums are getting spammed, please PM me. I have set up my account to send PM notifications to my phone via text message. It's not real-time damage control, but I promise it will be close.

Don't worry about it. I really have never understood porn spamming. I mean it's not like there isn't tons of free porn and internet traffic to porn sites is always off the charts. Now, I could understand maybe like, tax consultants spam or something like that.

You're welcome. I enjoy doing it. I am but one gear in the Mod Squad machine, though. Julie, Kflatfoot, Rickenbacker, and 1000 are all on the ball and watching out for things too.

I miss all the fun! I've had a sick kid this week, tried working from home...it's been crazy. Good to know The Mod Squad has my back!
As hard as we try, we'll never eliminate the spam problem. As fast as developers create fixes to stop them, "the bad guys" find ways around them. Never ending cycle, and unfortunately, the bad guys are really, really good at what they do.

That is why we, as moderators, have to be on our toes. Anti-spam tools are only as good as their programming. Humans have superior intellect and reasoning.
