got a family get~together coming up,determined to go but i am nervous about it.reason being ,there are some relatives going that i haven't seen for a long time.the last time i saw them my hair loss was only visible to me and now in the last year i have lost a significant amount of hair.also just had my shortest haircut ever so there's no hiding it now,not that i want to.perhaps i haven't got used to it as much as i thought but am nearly there so don't want to go backwards in my attitude.any tips on best how to handle situation or similar experiences ,i would be grateful to have them or hear about them.

I don't know your relatives, but I would say this is something that you are doing for yourself and that you like the look. Smile

Just a thought.
You should not be judged by hair alone.

It has been my experience that family is generally far more understanding than we give them credit for sometimes. You may surprise a few of them; you might not. You don't know until you do it. If you're worried about projecting a certain image for your relatives - or anyone else - then you're not being true to yourself.

Party on, and embrace your baldness. If your relatives give you a hard time, well... I agree with BulletHead.

thanks everyone for support over my liittle crisis of confidence.went last night and had a good time.when i first walked in my cousin was wearing a bald wig,so couldn't help but laugh,after that i relaxed and enjoyed myself.won't be able to return the joke as they never seem to go bald on my fathers side of the family.one thing last night taught me once and for all is that i'm going to be a lot happier bald than worrying about my disappearing hair .once again thanks for your advice,most grateful.

Go and let them say what they want to , they should know men do go bald and thats life, but i bet you will get few or no comments, as sometimes it is our selves that have the doubts, But as i say to many men going bald shave it off and cause a real stir if the thinning and baldness make you feel uncomfortable
