I had someone ask about products that could replace "SeaBreeze" for oily skin. This person used that astringent after shaving his head but the product has been taken off the market or is in the process of becoming a "new and improved" version. Any ideas? _________________ Carpe Diem "Seize the Day" |

We do get a lot of hits on this website from people searching for products for an oily scalp, so I thought I'd post this comment here:

| Hey, New to site. Been going bald since right out of high school. Always had oily skin and hair. HAD to shampoo everyday if not twice. Well now looking at shaving completly....but I have really oily scalp. What advice can the members give. When you are 45 years old, I don't need infected hairs coming up like I was a teen ager going thru puberty. I am new to all this and just need some honest advice. |

Welcome!
I would try some witch hazel and see if that helps. _________________ Irena

Dcon,
I have a super oily scalp too, and the best/cheapest thing I've found is Safeguard soap and a washcloth. One pass to get the bulk of the oil off, rinse, and a second pass to get squeaky clean. (If you're like me it'll be oily in under two hours again anyways.)
I also use Bald Guyz Head Wipes as needed during the day if I need to look extra presentable for whatever reason (also it feels good when you've sweat up a storm on a hot day).
I used to use Neutragena Oil Control Wash but Safeguard is cheaper and better. _________________ - Rich G.

So what is witch hazel and what does it do? I looked it up in a medical journal and it mentioned its use at the other end! _________________ Drive it like ya stole it! |

Witch hazel is an astringent. Witch-hazel helps to shrink and contract blood vessels and sebaceous glands which produce the skin's oil. _________________ Irena

Hey Rich, I wouldn't say in two hours. But I shower at 5:30am everyday and by 11:00am I can feel the oil. Bald Guyz wipes? What do these do? _________________ Drive it like ya stole it! |

They clean the oil off of your scalp. Look here: http://www.baldguyz.com/products/prdwipes/ . They smell good too. You can get then at CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, etc. _________________ - Rich G.

I agree with the others. Try some witch hazel. It works great. I use it after I finish my shave. It really soothes your scalp. I ahve never tried bald guyz headwipes but would like to try them for use during the day.
