For the Women: Bald Is Beautiful

26 October, 2007 15:50

Julie Olson, Mission Coordinator

I found a great website for women. Read more about the founder, Sharon Blynn. Here's an excerpt and link:

A fresh-off-the-boat ovarian cancer survivor, I decided that when I finished with my long and winding road of a health journey, I would use my experience and the healing choices that I made for myself to help others learn to flip the script on this beeyotch (sorry), and tap into their inner resources of self-love, self-empowerment, and positive energy to heal themselves in mind, body, and spirit. So Bald Is Beautiful was born.

How to Take Care of a Bald Head: A New Niche

17 October, 2007 17:46

Julie Olson, Mission Coordinator

This article was submitted by "Waliguy" in the forum. I thought it was worth posting here in the blog:

New York Times Style Section: The New Niche: Hair Care for Men Without
By ANNA JANE GROSSMAN
Published: March 8, 2007

THE same week a Los Angeles salon owner was pleading with Britney Spears not to buzz her head, barbers were laying tracks across the scalps of all sorts of men at the Aidan Gill for Men salon in New Orleans.

“We have at least one man coming in for a head shave every day,” Mr. Gill said. “Had Britney come here, we’d have shaved her all the way down. She’d have looked incandescent.”

For most of recent grooming history, having a totally bald pate was a look most likely found among men with formidable personalities and names to match — Kojak, Yul, Ike, Warbucks, Clean. It wasn’t a look for John over in accounting.

But in the late 1980s, Michael Jordan shaved it all off. Soon, the world was examining the scalps of Bruce Willis, Andre Agassi, Moby and just about one token character on every TV show — not to mention a swarm of Oscar nominees and presenters this year, including Jack Nicholson (who had shaved his head for a role).

The response is a booming market of products being developed and sold specifically to the unhirsute - a new front in the nearly $5 billion onslaught of male grooming products in the United States.

Thought About Shaving It All Off?

16 October, 2007 10:08

Julie Olson, Mission Coordinator

It's obviously working for this guy:

Frederick Ljunberg…Soccer Player for Team Sweden and Calvin Klein Model

See…Frederick Ljunberg has the right idea. His hair is receding and he went for the buzz cut. He is a case of someone who actually looks better with the buzz cut. He kind of looks like a freak with a full head of hair.

Here's what you've been waiting for:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2007 Survey Results released on Female Opinions of Bald Men

97% of women surveyed say bald men can be sexy; 71% oppose bald men getting transplants; a bald man’s confidence is very important to women surveyed.

COON RAPIDS, Minn. (September 14, 2007) The Brotherhood of Bald People Worldwide has released the results of their 2007 survey featuring opinions from women on bald men.

The 23-question survey was presented to women residing in various places within the United States to get their opinions and attitudes toward bald men, their sex appeal, dating, and overall opinions on baldness. Complete survey results are posted on The Brotherhood of Bald People Worldwide’s website but you have to be a "free" registered member to log in and check it out. Click here to sign up.

“Brotherhood of Bald People Worldwide was curious to get the results. Probably the most amazing discovery in doing this was how much the women enjoyed helping us out,” explained Mike Ubl, Founderand Mission Director of Brotherhood of Bald People Worldwide.

The Brotherhood Moves Forward...

08 September, 2007 13:00

Julie Olson, Mission Coordinator

The excitement here is contagious! We've recently unveiled the new hairless princess to support young bald girls, we've got thousands of items in production and we've just connected with a dynamite bald guy named "Brian" whose enthusiasm, ideas and drive will be key in taking the Brotherhood to the next level.

Brian saw right away that the quality of our products is unbelievable  -something you just don't see when you check them out online. That's right... these products are going places. When you sport the Brotherhood Products you can be proud of the fact that you're sporting hot, quality items that people will comment on everywhere you go. In fact, several of our members have told us that people stop them in public places to ask about their t-shirts. Of course, we've been experiencing that phenomenon for a while!

Medical Hair Loss: A "Thank You" from Children's Hospital

30 August, 2007 16:32

Julie Olson, Mission Coordinator

I just received a note today from a local children's hospital that let us know the kids really appreciated the t-shirts, which encourage self-acceptance in children with medical hair loss, recently donated by the Brotherhood. Here's what they said:

Dear Julie,

Thanks so much for connecting with us and all the work and resources you and your partner have done to get get t-shirts for our patients and families.  A lot of the teens and Dads really liked that they were black t-shirts, and the range of sizes.  Its been pretty busy here so I am sorry for my delay in communicating with you about the response. Right now we have enough t-shirts, but may need more in a month or two. We are doing some construction in our clinic so storage is going to be very tight. Again thanks for your efforts and care for our patients. Most kids do not wish to ride behind a wig they feel pretty accepted and opt for hats.

I Love Lucy - Ricky Thinks He's Going Bald

21 August, 2007 19:42

Julie Olson, Mission Coordinator

One of the first things that came to my daughter's mind when she heard I was working on a website for bald people was the episode of I Love Lucy in which Ricky thinks he's going bald. She loves the classics; anyway, she found a clip of this episode on You Tube. This is obviously a stretch and "just for fun" but it's really amazing what lengths a guy will go to if he thinks he's losing his hair! Check it out:
